VINEYARD
The decision to make Monte Real Reserva de Familia at El Monte, located 430 metres to 530 metres above sea level, is due to the optimal agro-ecological conditions of the location. The banks of the Ebro River cause wide variation in seasonal temperatures, rainfall being well spread out throughout the cycle, and plenty of sunshine. It has a shallow, ochre-coloured, calcareous-clay soil composition with a pebbly surface, the good microbiological conditions being the mainstay for good drainage and obtaining the well-defined characteristics of the 100% Tempranillo grape. It has a sustainable, dryland viticulture. No insecticides, herbicides or pesticides are used so as to safeguard the biodiversity of the flora and to preserve the entomological fauna of the vineyards.
WINEMAKING
Classic winemaking, coupled with innovative oenological elements, with the aim of enhancing the selection of native yeasts, are used to extract all of the varietal aromas, polyphenols and ripe tannins that lie in the grapes skin. The wine is aged in 50% French oak and 50% American oak, medium-plus toast, 225-litre barrels for 24 months, then refined in the bottle for a minimum of 12 months, before its release.
TASTING NOTES
A pure, sombre, mysterious wine. Its unique, harmonious liquorice became a hallmark of Monte Real Reserva de Familia, later evolving into a purer version of the Tempranillo, as a tribute to the inspiration of the founders of Bodegas Riojanas. It is cherry-red in colour, with a subtle garnet rim. On the nose, the overlapping ripe fruit, strawberry and liquorice notes at the heart blend with the undertones of the notes from the aging in oak wood barrels. Its mid-palate is fresh, its energy is both cerebral and emotional, not overwhelming, but rather subtle. Our delivery charges are based on the number of bottles in your order, and each case can hold 12 x 75cl bottles as shown in the table below smaller and larger bottles are pro rata. We do not have a minimum order requirement.
Subject to stock availability and successful payment authorisation, we aim to despatch your order the next working day after you place your order. Our Standard Delivery is a next day service for most of the mainland UK from date of despatch, and The Highlands and Islands areas are on a 2-3 day service normally. As most orders are delivered via our chosen courier company, we cannot offer guaranteed delivery times, however the vast majority of orders placed arrive on the next working day. During busy periods these delivery times may extend. IF YOUR ORDER IS TIME CRITICAL PLEASE RING THE OFFICE TO GET MORE UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON CURRENT DELIVERY TIME SCALES, AND WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, BUT PLEASE NOTE WE ARE COURIER DEPENDENT ONCE THE ORDER LEAVES US, SO WE CANNOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.
We are able to hold your order if you would like to organise a day when you are going to be in, to do this just indicate it in the notes box provided in the delivery area of the order process. Please add any other specific delivery requirements in the same box and we will do our best to ensure they are followed, or alternatively call us on 01472 852118 and we will do our best to help you. Our chosen Couriers deliver Monday to Friday between 8.00 am & 6.00 pm.
Please note it is not possible to specify a timed delivery, without incurring additional delivery charges, if this something you require please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Please note that all our consignments normally REQUIRE A SIGNATURE on receipt. We will NOT be able to leave your order without someone taking the order in, we cannot leave your order unattended in a porch or garage etc., unless we get written confirmation from you that this is acceptable and that you will take full responsibilty if the parcel goes missing. However we are able to leave it with a neighbour or at an alternative address where they can take the goods in, please indicate this in the box for notes on the delivery page of the order process, if this is a requirement. If no-one answers the door, the address will be carded in the normal manner you should contact the courier or us to get the delivery rescheduled.
Orders under £30 in value will incur a small order £10 carriage charge to standard none surcharged UK delivery areas.
