Founded in 1821 Antonio Barbadillo remains today under family control. They have 17 Bodegas in prime positions in Sanlucar de Barrameda, with sherry reserves of more than 45,000 butts they are well placed to provide their world markets with the highest quality wines. They specialize in the production of Manzanilla style sherry which must be aged in the town of Sanlucar Barrameda. The proximity of Sanlucar to the coast means it has a particular micro climate enabling the flor yeast to grow more thickly than in other sherry producing towns. It is the Flor that forms a blanket over the wine as it ages in oak butts throughout the year, this in turn prevents the wine from oxidizing producing a delicate and distinctive light style of Sherry with a slightly salty tang.
