In 1982, Fernando Guedes acquired Quinta de Azevedo and set out to transform it. He planted 35 hectares of cordon-trained vineyards in this cool, wet part of north-western Portugal, allowing more air circulation and sun exposure for resultantly riper and healthier grapes. Making the first wine in 1990, Fernando pioneered quality Vinho Verde production.
Today, the team continue to make some of the region’s best wines, marked by a signature freshness and pure, precise flavours.
