The Domaine was founded in 1925 when Mr. Benoit Chirat left the village of Chapelle Villard for St. Michel sur Rhone. The domain was developed in 1980 with Gilbert, a very young farmer, who moved away from traditional farming to create a vineyard on the vertiginous terraces of Condrieu.
In 2012, Aurélien joined Gilbert and together they developed the estate on the Cote Rotie and St. Joseph appellations. Aurélien seeks to maintain the quality of his father's wines while bringing the experience of his studies and the different places where he vinified (New Zealand, South of France and Burgundy).
The vineyard has been run for 4 generations with respect for the environment and biodiversity. The viticulture method used allows cultivated grapes to fully reveal the complexity of the most beautiful terroirs in the north of the Rhône valley. The High Environmental Value (HVE) label obtained since the 2018 vintage is proof of this.
