The Villa Trasqua winery produces concentrated, terroir-based Chianti Classico wines of the utmost quality. The level of attention placed in the vineyard, based on the fundamental principle that wine is made in the vineyard enables them to harvest fully-ripe and aromatic grapes that are slowly and carefully turned into concentrated and authentic wines. Within the estate there is a very noticeable and specific microclimate; the vineyards are on the slopes of a large, natural amphitheatre called Trasqua, this remarkable landscape in the heart of Tuscany, not only affords all aspects of the sun, but allows for cooling breezes to come down from the hills keeping the grapes cool, healthy and dry. 95% of the vineyards are planted within this area which has a Southerly exposition giving optimal insulation. Versatile soil structure, light sand up to heavy clay gives great possibilities to guarantee constantly high quality wine production. Yields are relatively small at 1kg per vine. Fermentation takes place in cone-shaped wooden barrels, with further ageing for 12 months in big wooden barrels (Slovenian oak). The wine is then matured in bottle for at least 3 months prior to release.
