Domaine Merlin Cherrier has owned vines in the Grand Chemarin lieu-dit for some time, but the grapes have always gone into the main cuvée, then in 2018 Thierry decided to vinify a portion of the grapes from this small area separately and Grand Charmain cuvée was born. The vines are divided among 4 parcels totalling 3 acres, with a third planted in 1990 and two-thirds in 2008.
Grand Chemarin, shares key similarities with Chêne Marchand, Bué`s other top vineyard area. It lies on a plateau with a southerly aspect well above the winery, where the terroir is a mixture of thin topsoil and pebbles.
Fermentation and élevage are different to the main cuvée: Grand Chemarin ferments spontaneously, and half is vinified in neutral Burgundian barrels with the other half in stainless steel. No fining or cold stabilization. The wine is aged on lees for between 12 to 16 months, with massingn in stainless steel vats for two months, before bottling. Malolactic fermentation not blocked, not filtered.
Tasting Notes
Pale yellow in colour with golden highlights. On the nose, ripe pear is immediately apparent with hints of vanilla that suggest pastries and fruit tarts. The freshness is brought out by the floral notes. Rich, full and warm on the palate, with aromas of apricot tart and vanilla, with a long finish.
Our delivery charges are based on the number of bottles in your order, and each case can hold 12 x 75cl bottles as shown in the table below smaller and larger bottles are pro rata. We do not have a minimum order requirement.
Subject to stock availability and successful payment authorisation, we aim to despatch your order the next working day after you place your order. Our Standard Delivery is a next day service for most of the mainland UK from date of despatch, and The Highlands and Islands areas are on a 2-3 day service normally. As most orders are delivered via our chosen courier company, we cannot offer guaranteed delivery times, however the vast majority of orders placed arrive on the next working day. During busy periods these delivery times may extend. IF YOUR ORDER IS TIME CRITICAL PLEASE RING THE OFFICE TO GET MORE UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON CURRENT DELIVERY TIME SCALES, AND WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, BUT PLEASE NOTE WE ARE COURIER DEPENDENT ONCE THE ORDER LEAVES US, SO WE CANNOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.
We are able to hold your order if you would like to organise a day when you are going to be in, to do this just indicate it in the notes box provided in the delivery area of the order process. Please add any other specific delivery requirements in the same box and we will do our best to ensure they are followed, or alternatively call us on 01472 852118 and we will do our best to help you. Our chosen Couriers deliver Monday to Friday between 8.00 am & 6.00 pm.

Please note that all our consignments normally REQUIRE A SIGNATURE on receipt. We will NOT be able to leave your order without someone taking the order in, we cannot leave your order unattended in a porch or garage etc., unless we get written confirmation from you that this is acceptable and that you will take full responsibilty if the parcel goes missing. However we are able to leave it with a neighbour or at an alternative address where they can take the goods in, please indicate this in the box for notes on the delivery page of the order process, if this is a requirement. If no-one answers the door, the address will be carded in the normal manner you should contact the courier or us to get the delivery rescheduled.
Orders under £30 in value will incur a small order £10 carriage charge to standard none surcharged UK delivery areas.
